3d game model of Sydney Savage from the Danger Girl comics. I didn't finish this in time for the Comicon Challenge, but still remains as a bit of a tribute to one of my favorite comic book artists, J. Scott Campbell.
15788 triangles and 2048 x 2048 textures. Sculpted in Zbrush, poly modeling in Maya, textures in Photoshop & BodyPaint, real-time render in Marmoset Toolbag.
Thanks! I've seen that figure too. I would have loved to have 3d printed my figure, but even if I did, it's not something I could really sell without getting into trouble because of copyright issues (I think). One day I'd like to print something of my own though!
But a figure as good as yours... you could ask them for permission and give them a cut.
I think 3D printers will be awesome when they get commercial enough to become affordable. I saw a 3D scanner the other day that looks pretty cheap.
I've also seen software that can take several photos of an item (taken the right way re angle etc) and turn them into a 3D premodel. Then the user would tweak the model I suppose.
Hah, it's probably not that easy to get permission, but yea 3d printing will be mainstream eventually.
The tech to convert photos into 3d has been around for quite a while actually. Still some kinks to work out, but promising. Although you can't take photos of something that doesn't exist yet!
Some day soon there'll be 3D printers just waiting for you to sell your designs.
Love this work. Fantastic!!

Love your work anyway. Cheers.
