In collaboration with CGCircuit, a new site that allows you to monetize your own instructional content, I just released the first two videos in my four part series about 3d Character Art.

You can find the videos here:

VOLUME 1: Introduction & High Res Modeling Theory - ~1.5 hours - FREE
www.cgcircuit.com/lessondetail…

VOLUME 2: High Res Modeling Application - ~2 hours - $6.99
www.cgcircuit.com/lessondetail…

VOLUME 3: Modeling for Games (Retopo, UV, Baking) - COMING SOON!
VOLUME 4: Texturing and Model Presentation - COMING SOON!

My intention is to create instructional content for the aspiring character artist who already knows the basics, but still struggles with getting professional results. My hope is to elaborate more on the artistic side of character art rather than showing technical tricks (although there will be some of that as well).

I've spent a lot of time putting these videos together myself, and the last two are in the works. I have also really tried to keep these affordable for students. Please help spread the word and share this with anyone you think might be interested. I'll update this thread once the new videos are released. Thanks, and I hope you all like it!

By the way, my Hella model is used as an example in the videos, but the series is NOT about how to build that exact character! If you prefer, the first volume is also available on my YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/user/haikaiYT) with the caveat that it's not split into convenient chapters like it is on the CGCircuit site. I will only be posting the first volume on YouTube so please visit CGCircuit for the others! :)

Yes, I'm working on it right now. I know it's taken a long time, but I'm going to try to make it really worthwhile for everyone. I can't say for sure when it will be ready, but I'll definitely be posting about it here and elsewhere. Thanks for your support!

These were such lovely videos! I love hearing about the theory behind your decisions and not only what makes a good model but also what makes a bad model. Can't wait to see the rest!

Thanks! In a way, I think the first video is probably the most important one for those reasons. The rest of the videos will have more concrete technical information that I think a lot of people will be expecting, but I hope all the videos will be worthwhile for anyone interested in game character art!

I don't know if this description will make sense, but, assuming you already have a general head shape, you can start by going to your Subtool palette and append a sphere subtool using the Append button (it's one of the default primitives). You can then use the transpose feature to move the sphere into place ("E" key to scale, "W" key to transform, "R" key to rotate, "Q" key to go back to drawing mode after you've moved it). Use the transparent view mode to place it accurately. In Zplugin/Subtool Master, use the Mirror command to mirror and merge the sphere so that you have two eyes. Then you can go back to your head shape and sculpt the eye holes, etc. Good luck with it!

I saw it and I am very interested in pay for the full tutorial. I am fairly acquainted with how tools work in 3DS Max for example. But I am more focused in illustration (as you may see in my profile) But I am new to Zbrush but very interested in it, because the way it works.))

My tutorial doesn't go in depth on how Zbrush works on a fundamental level, but I hope there's something useful for you in there! I'll definitely consider doing shorter introductory videos on specific applications one day.

I just finished watching them, and I really enjoyed them. I really liked the fixing a "broken" sculpt. I thought it was interesting and it's not something I had seen before. I was disappointed when you didn't fix the hands tough.^^ That would have been epic, they were so messed up. No real crits.
